The SAWC Civic Engagement Committee encourages all SAWC members to increase their awareness and involvement in Civic Engagement. Volunteering is one of the best ways to put civic duty into action and foster a stronger sense of community. Listed below are some ways you can contribute to our community and world.
Veterans Day
Veterans Day is coming up - Friday November 11, 2022 and it is all about honoring our soldiers, both past and present, who have made sacrifices for our freedom.
We don’t know them all, but we owe them all.
You can honor them by thanking all veterans in your life, and community, for their service– they’ve earned it. A simple “thank you for your service” will bring a smile to their face.
Salem’s Holiday Parade
Salem’s Holiday Parade is Sunday November 27th 2022 at 1:00. This year’s parade theme is “Christmas at the Zoo”.
Our club will walk with our SAWC banner in the parade and hand out small stuffed animals to the children.
This is an easy way for our members to participate in a community event and help foster the small-town community atmosphere of Salem.

Samaritan’s Purse
Operation Christmas Child Shoebox
SAWC has long supported the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox giving where donated shoeboxes filled with Christmas gifts are shipped to children in nine countries across Eastern Europe, Africa and Central Asia. This is a voluntary donation opportunity for our SAWC members to fill a shoe box with school supplies, toys, and personal care items for children less fortunate than us. The shoe boxes will be available at the next SAWC meeting on Tue 11/1/22 with more information and drop off dates and items to be included in boxes
