Join our Singing Sisters

SAWC Harmony comes to life with our members who like to sing. No special talent required, just a desire to sing (outside of the shower)!  The first gathering was held with tremendous joy and harmony. New Knit & Crochet Group has formed to make various items for the community, such as baby hats, kids hats & mittens, lap robes and prayer shawls, etc. Some are choosing to make items for Meaghan's Hats, a nonprofit in Pelham, which collects hats, gloves, scarves, blankets and donate to organizations that support those in need. In their first year they served over 1700 people. SAWC has recently received a large donation of beautiful yarn you may use. Ideas welcomed! Questions? Shamim: shamimcalc@outlook.com

New Exercise Groups

Thank you all for participating in the recent survey of activities you’d like to support. And the winners are:  Yoga and stretch tied with 2/3 of respondents in favor, followed closely by walking.  Mornings were an overwhelming preference, with a few nods to early afternoon.

 

It is now our task to expand upon the results, so we ask you to please contact Danielle Risch by emailing SalemAreaWomensClub@gmail.com, with answers to these few questions below.  Importantly, please provide your name, email, and phone number to help us better organize the groups as the plans develop.

• WAY to GLOW:  Our walking group is returning soon!  Always a great experience, and so good for body and spirit.  Please let me know your preferred walking length: less than 1 mile, 1-2 miles, 2-3 miles, 3+ miles; and best days/times available.   It is our hope to have a leader for those who prefer longer miles, and a shepherd for walkers who want to exercise but can’t or don’t necessarily choose to rack up miles.

• WAY to FLOW:   Yoga is a new offering to our club.  Benefits of this ancient practice are legion, and contrary to popular belief the only flexibility required is that of your mind.  This would be a gentle and structural practice, focusing on posture, strength, and movement woven together with breath.  Details to follow.  Please let me know your level of experience:  None to a little, Some,  Good amount;  Do you currently take yoga classes?   If so, how often?  and best days/times available.

• WAY to SLOW:   Stretch is another new offering to our club.  Stretching the body helps keep us limber and generally makes us feel better.  We will learn the correct way to stretch and which muscle groups benefit the most from thoughtful care.  Please let me know if interested in this class and best days/times available.
